Food and beverage study to support emissions reduction
- Free emissions reports to help WA food and beverage manufacturers reduce their carbon footprint and improve energy efficiencies
- Study to set an emissions benchmark, and support businesses to develop reduction management strategies
- Cook Government working to protect and restore our environment
The Cook Government and Western Australia's flourishing agrifood and beverage sector are working towards a low carbon future with a new initiative to map and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while improving businesses energy efficiencies.
The Energy Snapshot study includes a voluntary survey of businesses across WA to gain insight into the sector's annual emissions, identifying opportunities and barriers to emissions reduction and achieving the State's net zero emissions target by 2050.
Participants will benefit from their confidential contribution to the survey, receiving a free emissions benchmark report to help drive their business emissions management strategies.
Interested businesses can also sign up to receive one of 30 comprehensive reports, which include professional advice, or 20 'lite' reports on their enterprise's direct and indirect carbon emissions - worth several thousand dollars in the commercial marketplace.
The research, borne from the study, will support and enhance economic growth and sector wide innovation and resilience, including providing data to inform policy and program development that supports sustainability goals and promoting investment in green technology.
The initiative will help WA businesses remain preferred suppliers in the competitive national and international marketplace, while supporting the Cook Government's efforts to diversify the economy and increase local manufacturing.
For more information on the Energy Snapshot study, delivered by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and to apply for an emissions benchmark report visit www.dpird.wa.gov.au/fbenergyefficiency.
The survey and expressions of interest in receiving a comprehensive or lite emissions report close on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
